I'm not sure if your cat wants a mate, but I was thinking that perhaps they could Crush on each other. I really like what they did in the warrior books with Squirrelflight and Ashfur and Brambleclaw. Perhaps they can become really close friends(not mates) and get into a fight over something? After the fight she could find another tom to flirt it up with him making Chestnut all sad and he thinks they are mates when perhaps shes just doing it make him all jealous. Then maybe the other tom can see that Fawnshadow really cares for Chestnutflame and attempt to kill him to keep miss Fawnshadow all for himself. Then Fawnshadow finds an injured chestnut and is all like LOVE!!! and angry at the other tom for ever and the other tom could be lightspark!(Bears character He would totally be cool with it) And that's why he joined CrimsonClan!)
