Kestrelstar The morning of newleaf called for new times and new days. The leader had left for a walk, after her adventure with the loner last night, she wanted to make sure the borders were still in tact near the loners territory and the other clans. Kestrelstar's beautiful fur brushed up against the banks of the River. Until she found herself at the edge of the territory near the edge of the bridge, onto where the two leggeds live. Kestrelstar made sure the markings on the border were recent and strong, so that it warned intruders out.
Kestrelstar stopped for a moment, she had remembered meeting him here. The one who had ruined her love life, and after, her kits miscarried so she had become the deputy then followed as leader. With all her lives still in tact though Kestrelstar knew fully well, that she was no more special then the next cat in line. Sometimes, she only could just wish, her kits had survived and they would have grown to be fine warriors.

INK
Ink's belly was large with unborn kits. Her stomach was large and she knew her kits where do soon. But she wanted to leave her up-walkers at least for a little bit and explore the woods for what will probably be the last time for a couple moons. She felt sad for she knew when her unborn kits where old enough they would be sent away to new homes. She didn't want them to be sent away. Maybe she should leave her up-walkers and become a loner. She could raise her kits and they could be together always.
Scrambling up the fence was a bit harder than usual but once on top of it she jumped down gently trying not to jostle her kits to much. Padding towards a small stream for a drink. She walked over the bridge and up towards the stream. But shortly after crossing the bridge she smelt cat. Fear filled her and her hair pricked up. There had been no cat by the bridge when she crossed. But the scent of the cat was strong had she just reached it? Was the cat a clan cat that she had heard so much about?
Quickly Ink scrambled under a bush besides the spring. It wasn't easy for she was much bigger than usual. Curling up she hopped the cat would walk past and not notice her but that was very doubtful.

Kestrelstar Kestrelstar's bright blue eyes watched, as she saw the blurred figured of a large cat. Her head turned back as she blinked, the scent of a kittypet filled her nose, but obviously not in the territory, just on the edge of the bridge. The smell of milk as well, either the cat had recently given birth, or was expecting kits. Kestrelstar knew this herself, from being a mother, even though it didn't last for long as it seemed. Her soft paws dug into the stone as she padded over to the hiding spot of the she-cat.
"You don't need to hide from me, I'm not as mean as to attack a kittypet, who isn't even in my territory in the first place"Kestrelstar lowered her head near the hiding spot. She was still in Riverclan territory. Yet, right on the edge, it was almost as if there was an invisible wall where she was, although clear and able to pass through. The scent markers had just been over done, so cats like these should know that a clan lived here.
"My name's Kestrelstar, I'm the leader of Riverclan who lives here" Kestrelstar's voice was mother like as usual. The beautiful snowshoe cat smiled at the she-cat. She wasn't one to believe in being mean, not unless they brought out the evil in her, and that was if you trash talked Riverclan. Then, you were in shit street.

Ink's ears pressed against her head as the paw steps came towards her. When the cat spoke she thought it was all over. But instead the cat sounded kind. Crawling out from under the bush she blinked at the white cat. Her large belly scraped softly at the sandy ground. The cat was beautiful. She flattened her hair but she knew she was still giving off a fear scent.
She took a step back only to put her paw in the stream. Taking a deep breath she finally forced herself to talk. "Your the first clan cat I have ever seen. I have smelled you before but I've always made sure to stay out of the territory. Though I do need to cross it a little to get to the stream." She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be a clan cat. She would be able to keep her kits who would grow up strong and free of up-walkers. But she couldn't just ask to join them. Besides Ink doubted they would allow a kittypet into their clan.
"My name is Ink and I live in the up-walkers house over there." Ink pointed her tail at her house. It was at the edge of the wooded area and river. Kestralstar sounded so kind. She was starting to think she had nothing to fear of her. Sitting down she wrapped her tail over her front paws. Which wasn't easy with such a large stomach.

Kestrelstar The she-cat stepped back as the other showed herself. A young tortie by the looks of it, Kestrelstar smiled as she explained herself. What was wrong with finding a little but of water. After all, it wasn't like she hoped all the way into the territory to hunt for the well needed food. They had the lake, which took up a majority of their territory. This small stream was enough to give a well needed queen her water to nurture her unborn kits. Kestrelstar nodded and sat down for a moment before looking at the small stream next to her, she hadn't even noticed it before now, which was odd.
"It's fine, after all, we have loads of water further into the territory, and it's not like your doing it to intrude in the first place." Kestrelstar told her. "You seem to be trying to avoid the two leggeds. I thought a kittypet like you would want to be indoors, well it is nice out today and I'm not one to judge a cat's life style if they live with those creatures." Kestrelstar said for a moment, looking back to the small dens where the two leggeds lived. Kestrelstar had been more afraid of those creature's more then anything else.

Ink smiled she was beginning to like this cat. She wondered if all clan cats where like that. She had heard rumors as a kit that they grew as big as badgers when angry and they ate kittypet's for dinner. She shivered at the thought, but she was starting to think it was just rumors. "No I wouldn't want to anger a clan cat if the rumors about you clan cats are true.." At the mention of twolegs she blinked her eyes. what where twolegs? It took her a moment to figure out she probably meant the up-walkers. "Do you mean my up-walkers? I've never heard of a twoleg but I guess that could be used to call them. And yes I am. My kits are due soon. And I fear the up-walkers will take them from me when they are old enough. I don't want to loose my kits. My father was a rouge and he taught me how to hunt and fight. So I have been thinking of becoming like my father. At least that way I can keep my kits."
Why was she telling this stranger so much? She knew nothing about this cat named Kestralstar. but she couldn't help but open up to her. She seemed so nice.

Kestrelstar The she-cat nodded, two legged, up-walkers, they were the same thing. Kestrelstar listened to the cat. Well, that explained it, she had wild cat blood in her, she could never imagine herself in a kittypet house, it was just impossible in more ways then one. "Two leggeds, their also known as Up-walker apparently to you. And it's understandable, I wouldn't want them taking away my kits. Your free to come to Riverclan if you can't find a home. Although, cats might be a bit prejudged against a kittypet." Kestrelstar explained. Her home was open to those who had potential, after all, the clan couldn't hold anything against the kits, for they had done nothing wrong, if the clan did though, the behavior would be punished.
Kestrelstar stood up and flicked her tail. "If your up to it that is, some cats aren't as nice as I am, and your kits may have a hard life, but I offer them my protection as a leader, and that they have full lives next to their mother. There's a lot to learn, if you think it's worth for your kits." Kestrelstar told the she-cat. It was a proposal she wouldn't give out often, there had been stories of kittypets joining clans, and they all ended in death and famine. So if the mother wanted the best for her kits, she would have to be strong, and expect the worst possibilities when it came to meeting the others, she would have to prove herself over.

Ink was shocked by the invitation, to join the clan would be an honor. Her mother had known a barn cat that had joined a clan once. Her kits would be safe. Though may be judged they would be safe. "I think I'll take you up on your offer. My kits will have a better life with a clan. They can learn things that they wouldn't learn as a kittypet or loner. They would learn to care for one another and their clan. I know I will be disliked even hated. But I am willing to prove myself for my kits." Ink was wiling to do anything for her kits.
Lowering her head she rolled on her back and put her paws behind her collar. It took some pushing and a bit of rolling around before she finally got the collar off. "Just give me one second." Picking her collar up she ran back to her up-walkers nest and tossed the collar over the fence than ran back. She was panting slightly from the run. Normally that little run wouldn't of bothered her at all. Ink didn't know why but she wanted her up-walkers to have her collar. Maybe they would think she was ok. Or maybe they would think someone took her. She wasn't sure. But once her kits where safe maybe she would come back just so they knew she was safe. She wouldn't stay of course just let them see her before going back to her kits and the clan. "I'm ready to go, and I'm willing to do what ever it takes for my kits to live a full and happy life as Riverclan warriors."

Kestrelstar Kestrelstar smiled as she waited for the cat. It was exciting to have someone with potential. When she returned she started to walk towards the camp. It would take some time to get the cat accustom to the clan, but even more so Kestrelstar gave her a one way ticket of protection from those who hated kittypets. The clan needed kits, and this was their opportunity to get that. Kestrelstar flicked her tail and made sure that the she-cat was close behind her.
"You'll have to get a new name when we accept you, as a queen." Kestrelstar noted. The fact that they needed the warrior names, for their heart and soul was put into those names. That represented who they were from every inch of their being.

Ink padded beside Kestralstar. She was nervous how would the other clan cats react to her. She expected them to shun her and possible hate her. But as long as they showed none of their hostility towards her kits that was fine. She could deal with it. But she could never stay some where, where her kits felt like they where unwanted or hated. She wanted them to be happy as well as safe.
"A new name...." Why did I need a new name? Wasn't my name good enough? If I wasn't Ink any more who would I be? "What will my new name be? Will it still have my name in it?" She didn't want to loose her name completely. But if it meant keeping her kits safe she would do what ever she had to. No matter what. She would erase her past. And her scent. She would leave her soft life behind. "I'll do what ever it takes to give my kits a safe home."

Kestrelstar Kestrelstar stopped for a moment and turned to Ink. "A warriors name is much more then just a name. It signifies who they are, and the things they have accomplished. You can keep the name Ink, but another part will be added for you to be fully accepted, and to let others know, what kind of cat they should expect from you." Kestrelstar stated. The leader held her head high and started walking.
"A warrior is strong, a queen is kind, the name's they hold to heart, the beginning they got from their mothers, the last, from what the others have seen in their eyes. Pebbleshine, someone who shines brighter then the moon. Kestrelfeather, a kind hearted warrior, with the feirceness of the starclan ancestors. It is maybe only a simple name, but it tells you something, more then it just meeting the eye." Kestrelstar spoke with sincerity. It wasn't just the name's it was Starclan as well. There were many name's of warriors from the stories Kestrelstar had heard and told in her life time. There was a lot more as well.

The names held meaning? She wondered what her kits names would be. She would give them their first name. But their leader Kestralstar would give them the last part. What name would she receive? "I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you. I have much to learn and I am just curious." Ink could tell the she-cat was proud of her clan. She hoped her kits would one day become just like Kestralstar. Her yellow eyes shined with hope for her kits.
A warrior was strong she could understand that. They would have to be strong to keep their clan safe. And a queen would have to be kind. They where given the job of raising the clans future kits. They probably had to teach the kits many things before they became warriors. She would need help. For she knew nothing about clan life. But Ink was sure her new leader would help her teach her kits. "I see a name is more than just a name in the clan. it tells you who that cat is pretty much. What their personality is in a small way."

Kestrelstar Kestrelstar laughed a little bit, she wasn't upset, she was just showing the pride she had a as a leader. Then again this cat knew nothing of clan life. "There is a code we cats live by, a code that the kits are taught since at a young age. Where our belief in Starclan, where the after life stands, is our pride. The clan is our family. It's not just my clan, it's a family, much larger then just blood relation." Kestrelstar spoke, as she looked at the bright blue sky. It was beautiful, to sleep under the stars, to have a family like the one she had.
"There is a leader, a deputy, a medicine cat, medicine cat apprentice, Warriors, Apprentices, Elders, and Queens with their kits. When a kit turns six moons old, they become apprentices, trained by the warriors to widen their scope." Kestelstar explained. The path that the kits followed, would be up to themselves and their lives.

A code? There was so much to live by. "I will do my best to learn the code and than teach it to my kits. With the help of you and my new clan I know they will become great warriors someday. May I ask, what is a Starclan?" A family that should be nice. She had never had a family not really. She was taken from her mother and siblings at a young age. And though she lived only a few houses from her mother they never saw each other. Her mother never went outside.
Well it was good to hear that her kits would get a mentor and she wouldn't have to teach them everything. This is interesting I can not wait to learn even more." She picked up her speed. Ink's tail waving back and forth in excitement.

Kestrelstar Kestrelstar looked at the she-cat, of course they were hard to live by at times. But, there wasn't that many. The important one's were the one's you had to keep in mind when it came to the clan, like warriors and apprentices couldn't eat until the rest of the clan was fed. "Starclan, it's where cats go in the clans after they die. The warrior ancestors live there, and guide us. The stars near the moon during the night is them watching us, every star is one warrior. And trust me their real, otherwise, I wouldn't have the nine lives I have." Kestrelstar explained.
