He nodded to her, and that was all the praise she needed. He gestured for her to follow and she did so, gazing around at everything and memorizing her territory to the best of her ability. She tasted the air every so often, trying to find the best prey spots. She wanted to be one of the clan's best hunters, and for that she's have to know the favored nesting places and where prey animals spend most of their time.
He instructed her to take in the scents and she did so, knowing that she was smelling WindClan thanks to the description he had given. He explained they were at the border and gave her information on the leader and deputy. "Nightstar and Pinespot...I'll remember that." She stopped taking in scents when she caught the scents of the loners. What were they still doing here? But Skystar wasn't doing anything about it yet, so neither would she.
She followed him to the twoleg nest, staring up at it. It was unlike anything she had seen before. Less...natural. It was a little scary, and she'd grow even more scared of it as Skystar told his story. By the time he was finished talking, all her fur was standing on end. "Is there anything we can do to keep that from happening again?" The thought of finding a loved one dead was probably the worst thing she could ever think of. She'd prefer to know her clan was safe.

"No." He mewed. Skystar flicked his tail and continued on. the next place they would be visiting would be ShadowClan's boarder. He shook his gray fur and stared into the dark pines. He narrowed his eyes and parted his jaws. Snowleopard's scent was fresh, ShadowClan's medicine cat. He also scented robinflight and Brookpaw. He raised a brow skeptically but thought nothing of it.
"This is ShadowClan. You will never forget there stench, they have the most foul scent. They often reek of crowfood. No one knows why. They are lead by Reedstar and Whisperclaw. Whisperclaw is a fiesty she-cat. She isn't much older than you but she won't be afraid to use her claws even the smallest of disputes. Reedstar however, is more noble and fair. He's a genuine tom. He has a mate so Whisperclaw tends to do most of the leading in that clan." Skystar mewed trying to lughten the mood.
The tom flicked his tail once more and headed back down. The sky was starting to turn an orange color and it was getting late. He was still full since the last meal. He dipped his head and parted his jaws. They were at the place where Timberpaw had burried her mouse."Well you can catch some prey if your hungry or we can work on battle training, either or however, after we head back to camp."

Her head and tail lowered when he told her there was nothing they could do. For all they knew, they hadn't seen the last of...whatever it was, and when it killed again they wouldn't be able to stop it. How could such a thing live on their territory? How could StarClan let such a thing even exist?
Well...she was just an apprentice. A new one, at that. Warriors and StarClan knew more about the world than she did, by far.
He took her around to ShadowClan's border, and she tasted and memorized that scent as well. It was...horrible. How could they live with that stench always present around them? She wasn't about to ask such a question out loud, though. It was a mean one and she felt a bit ashamed for even thinking it.
She memorized the names he listed, as well as the border. She let out a mrow of laughter at the mention of the deputy doing most of the leading of the clan. Did having a mate really take that much out of a cat? She wanted to have a mate of her own someday - even had a tom or two in mind - so it was relevant to her.
Then Skystar headed back, gesturing for her to follow. She noticed the sky was getting dark already. Weird...it seemed as though the day had just started. But then, they did cover a lot of ground...
They stopped near where she had buried her kill, and Skystar gave her a choice - catch more prey or do battle training. She sat and thought about that for a moment. Catching prey would certainly help the clan, and she had wanted to bring back more than one piece of fresh-kill, but...she didn't want to be caught helpless again. If the rogues returned again, she wanted to have a chance at fighting them off. She already knew some hunting skills - enough for luck to push her into a catch even if it is clumsy - so fighting seemed to be the best route.
"Since I have some basics on hunting but no fighting sills yet, I think battle training might be best," she answered at last.

Skystar nodded. Battle training tended to tucker cats out. Timberpaw, being already tired he was sure, then again apprentices tended to have a good amount of energy at all hours of the day. Skystar swiped at her with sheathed claws."Battle training requires you to be weary and prepared. I bet you weren't expecting that" He mewed. He lowered himself to the ground and watched Timberpaw carefully."Ill teach you the basic jab and a barrel move. The jab requires you to watch the cat at all times. You will need to predict where they will be going. The best way to do so his to watch their flank. Their flank moves before the cat does." Skystar watched and jabbed his paw forward striking Timberpaw."Next is the barrel. You will do the same thing, watching their flank. You leap at them shouldering them, but rolling into them whilee jabbing at their paws. It causes them to trip." Skystar mewed. He leaped forward shouldering his apprentice and tripping her."Now it's your turn." Skystar mewed. He bounced back and forth waiting for his apprentice to attack.
ooc:I know I powerplayed but battle training is hard. go ahead and powerplay she can be sucessful ^_^

((No worries. ^.^))
Timberpaw felt too excited to be tired, though she knew she's have no trouble sleeping once training was over. She had been everywhere, done some hunting, and was about to learn battle moves. It was so exciting, learning the things that would help her become a great warrior, and she couldn't wait until she received her warrior name.
An unexpected blow came from the tom and she yelped and jumped back, staring at him wide-eyed. He explained that the training required her to be wary and prepared, and she nodded. He was right. She hadn't expected that at all. She was going to have to focus harder than that from now on.
He then explained the moves she'd be learning and how to predict where her opponent would be going. She nodded and watched him demonstrate the move, not even flinching at the blow since she had seen it coming. He then demonstrated the other move, and blinked as she found herself on the ground. She supposed he had to do the actual moves and not just the motions to show her properly.
Timberpaw stood and shook her pelt, her tail tip swishing back and forth. He said it was her turn, so she had to try the moves on him now. She watched him closely, noting how his flank moved before he did and watching until she could predict where he'd be before he got there. When she was sure she had that down, she jabbed her paw forward to strike where she was sure Skystar would be by the time her paw reached him.

Skystar jumped to the left and was struck by Timberpaw's attack. He was incredibly impressed. She would be good in battle as well."I know who to call when ThunderClan needs some spare paws to battle with." he mewed. He shook the blow away and swished his tail back and forth."You did that incredibly well for a first try, try the barrel. After you get that down we will call it a day. You need your rest."

Her blow connected, and a look of pure shock came over her face for a moment before it was replaced by joy. She'd done it! She could fight, now! Well...okay, maybe not, but it was a start, right?
Her mentor stated that he knew who to call when ThunderClan needed some spare paws to battle with, and she purred at the praise. Today may be physically taxing, but it was a very good day. She knew she'd enjoy having the leader as her mentor, and she also knew she'd learn more than she could ever have imagined. She almost wished she didn't have tomorrow off.
Ah, but there was still the other move he had showed her. She had to practice that one to finish the day. She almost didn't want to since it would end her training session. Still..she had to do what she had to do, and she nodded, taking a moment to prepare herself before leaping forward, attempting to shoulder and trip him just as he's showed her.

When Skystar went to jump out of the way he got caught in the she-cats small paws. Of course he didn't trip. He was bigger than her and it would take more than one apprentice to knock him down. He did however note that she did the move correctly. He stood up ruffling his fur and just dipped his head."Of course you won't be able to knock my down since i'm twice your size, but you did the move correctly, you would be able to knock over a smaller warrior or apprentice with that move i'm sure. Good job."
The gray tom flicked his tail signaling that she could pick up her prey. He wrapped his tail around his paws and thought about the day."We covered a lot today and I wanted to save the praises for last. I didn't want it to go to your head like it did my last apprentice Swiftpaw...but that was when I was Skyhawk...a warrior....your hunting was nearly perfect when you got the move down, and you are a good fighter. I forsee you being an excellent warrior...and perhaps getting an apprentice of your own...shortly after that....." he mewed."Tomorrow will be a day of resting....then I will have you go on your first patrol....the sun high one. That way you can rest for the evening, do a few chores and be ready for some training the morning after. We will work on tracking, and tree hunting.... it will be a good day." After speaking he stood up and decided it was time to head back to camp.

She managed to catch her mentor but didn't knock him over. She let him go and backed off after a moment, waiting to hear what she had done wrong. Only it turned out she hadn't done anything wrong. She wasn't able to trip him up because he was so much bigger than she was. In time, that move would work on all cats, but for now she was too small...an odd thing to think about, as she was large for her age.
She blinked as he began to praise her attempts throughout the day, and purred when he was done. "I...thank you. I'm trying really hard, and I'll keep trying. You don't have to worry about it going to my head. I know I can't beat a warrior or anything like that. Not until I'm closer to becoming one, anyway." Even so, it pleased her that he thought so highly of her, and that she might be able to start teaching apprentices soon after becoming a warrior. Perhaps one of the new kits in the nursery would be hers to train? Well, maybe someone just a bit younger than them... It was an exciting thought, even with the moons-long wait ahead of her. She had to do her own training first, after all, and she's barely started.
She nodded when he said tomorrow was for resting, and purred again when he mentioned putting her on a patrol. She had always wondered what those were like, and she'd get to find out for herself soon.
"I know it'll be good," she responded once he was done speaking. "I can't wait!" He headed back to camp, and she dug up her kill from earlier and followed, the day's events running through her head.
