Snakey jumped from car to car in the junkyard. She was currently playing around the large playground of junk and crowfood. Many clan cats would cringe at the extremely strong scent of crowfood but the black and gray she-cat with golden eyes wasn't there as a clan cat but as a rogue.
"Wheee!!" Snakey yowled with glee while gliding from the roof a truck to a giant mattress "It feels really good to just play around. It really helps loosen my muscles and clear my mind!"
It was rare for Snakey to just enjoy herself since she was supposed to be a respectable warrior then she'd usually try not to play around with the other members of Virus. Things just weren't the same from before and even Mongoose hadn't played with her in a long time.

Mongoose was prowling around the Junkyard as he usually did at this time of day. He was tired from staying up for so many nights in a row, making plans and thinking things through. Even now, Mongoose was deep in thought. There were so many things that Virus needed right now. Their current territory wasn't going to be enough for them much longer. There was not enough space there, or enough prey.
He saw Snakey messing around, jumping from a car to a mattress and the small kit inside of him told him to go and join his mate. Though Mongoose knew he couldn't and wouldn't. He was the leader of Virus, as respectable as a rogue cat could be, Mongoose decided he'd go and see Snakey but really wasn't going to play with her.
"Snakey." he called out, jumping up onto the mattress and walking slowly towards the she-cat.

Snakey noticed her mate as soon as she landed on the mattress. Suddenly, a very kit-like idea struck her and the she-cat struggled to suppress it as she knew her mate would be angry if she dared to do her idea but it didn't really help that Mongoose was slowly walking towards her on the mattress. It was too good of a chance to miss.
Quickly, the black and gray cat leaped on her mate and pinned him down on the mattress with a playful grin.
"I caught you Mongoose!!" Snakey exclaimed, covering her leader and mate's face with affectionate licks.

Usually Mongoose would be fast enough to move out of the way or strong enough the push back on his attacker. But not at the moment. Right now, Mongoose felt tired and slow, like there was a heavy weight on his shoulders. Which there was, he carried around all of the clan's problems and all they did was bring him down. Things had to change sometime soon.
"Not now." he sighed gently, carefully pushing Snakey off of him and getting back on his paws.

Snakey let her mate push her off and gently landed on the mattress on her side. Obviously, something was troubling Mongoose which made his mate extremely nervous and sad.
"Sorry..." Snakey hung her black head sadly and cautiously went closer to Mongoose, afraid that he might lash out at her "Sorry Mongoose. Are you okay?"
Snakey's voice was trembling ever so slightly and her golden eyes showed her fear and grief of her mate. Even though Snakey was worried about Mongoose she couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. She really wanted to play with the tom. Something she hadn't done in so many moons.

"I'm fine." Mongoose replied icily, his harsh tone clearly suggesting otherwise. He didn't want to talk about this at all, Snakey shouldn't need to worry about this all too, that wouldn't be fair. Mongoose was the leader, he had his own responsibilities and duties that involved no other cat and he kept to himself. For now, Mongoose needed to think about the territory problem and only share his worries with another cat when he at least had a proper plan about what to do about them.
"Snakey, I'm sorry. I'd tell you what was on my mind but I don't want you to worry. You're over-working yourself as it is." Mongoose said in a much softer voice.

Snakey just sighed and collapsed onto the springy mattress beneath her paws as she heard her mate's reply. She never really realized how tired and light headed she really was until Mongoose mentioned it.
"Thanks for caring about me..." the tired she-cat sighed weakly "But I need and want to know. I'm your mate! I may be tired and over-worked but so are you Mongoose! Please... Stop treating me like a kit and more like your mate."
It took all of Snakey's courage, strength and will-power to weakly yell at Mongoose. Almost literally all as her breath became heavier and faster while her head started to pound softly.

Mongoose looked away, not wanting to show how much he cared. He was probably just over-reacting or being idiotic right now. Snakey was doing this for him... She would tell him if she was getting tired of it, wouldn't she? He growled a little at what she said next. Mongoose didn't think he was tired or over-worked at all, how could she even think that? "I'm fine!" he repeated irritably, a dangerous gleam in his ruby eyes; clearly he was close to losing his temper.
"Snakey, I am not treating you like a kit. These problems are my own, I must deal with them myself. Please, don't try and get involved; you'll regret it if you do. When the time comes, I will tell you, just be patient." he mewed in an almost inaudible voice, trying to stay calm for a little longer. Snakey didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of Mongoose's temper.
