Cedarkit yawned and stretched as she woke up, looking around the nursery as her eyes opened. There was nothing fun to be done there, so she walked out of the den and into the camp.
I'm hungry. She padded to the freshkill pile and poked around, wondering what there was to eat. Maybe a rabbit she could share with her littermates? Or a nice thrush, or even a plump vole. Anything would work, as long as it filled her stomach.
She didn't find any of the above, but she did find a small mouse that looked tasty enough. She pulled it from the partially disassembled pile and dragged it next to the nursery, where she sat down and began to eat. Yum! I wonder who brought this. They're my best friend for today.

A small jet black kit lay curled in a pall, tiny tail hung limply over his nose. His ear twitched at a peculiar sound that didn't quite fit into hit dreamless sleep, and he opened his eyes drowsily. He blinked his wide, green eyes a couple of times at his sister and sat up. Pausing to give his rumpled fur a few swift licks, he padded over to Cedarkit, stretching along the way. "Hi Cedarkit..." he mewed, sitting neatly in front of where she ate and giving his ear a good scratch. Seeing her eat was making the young kit rather hungry himself. "Think there's anything for me in the pile?" At this, he cocked his head slightly, eyes purely curious and starting to take on their usual kind, cheery look as he woke up.

She purred when she noticed her brother. "'Bout time you woke up." She continued eating, relishing the taste of the rodent as the tom scratched at his pelt. When he asked if there was anything for him in the freshkill pile she finished off the remaining few bites of her mouse and licked the remnants from her jaws. "That was delicious, but I think I still prefer rabbit. Hmmm...there should be something in there you'll like. Let's have a look." She padded toward the pile, flicking her tail for her brother to follow.
When she reached it, she pawed through the pile. "What are you in the mood for today? Anything specific?"

Nightstar walked out of his den and saw that two of his kits were up. He saw Cedarkit go over to the fresh-kill pile and was digging threw it. He sighed and watched the kits. I hope they don't get into trouble he thought. He walked over to cedarkit, Howabout that nice plump mouse? he said smiling. He wanted to see what she would do. It was good that they were eating meat but soon they would be warriors in no time.

Black-kit trotted behind his sister closely, although he was looking at anything but her. The clear blue skies, the birds overhead, the soft breeze that carried tons of new, exciting scents. He sighed contently but forced himself to concentrate on what was in front of him. He purred lightly as he watched Cedarkit dig through the pile. Really, his sister's were the best.
"Oh, not really," he hummed, whirling around at the sound of larger pawsteps. He craned his neck to get abetter look at his tall father, big green eyes trying to catching his then quickly turning to look at the mouse he spoke of. "That things nearly bigger than me! Talk about a bellyache!" the young tom exclaimed, eyes widening more so than usual.

As she poked through the pile, she noticed footsteps coming toward her. She turned to see her father approaching and let out a purr. She was proud of him - with him being clan leader and all - and happy that she was his kit. Granted, she would be proud even if he was a normal warrior like most of the clan, but really who wouldn't be happy that they had family among the high ranks?
The older tom pointed out a plump mouse, and Black-kit exclaimed that it was nearly bigger than h was. She let out a mrow of laughter with that. "Oh, you exaggerate. Besides, you don't grow if you don't eat. I think it looks tasty!"

Nightstar purred to his kits. Howabout we all share that mouse? he asked them with a smile. He was happy that his kits were starting to eat fresh-kill but soon they would be warriors. He didn't want them to get hurt in battle but he knew that would happen. He sighed but kept a smile on for his kits.
