Lilypool laid in her nest until everyone was asleep. She than slowly and quietly snuck out of the den than out of camp. Once she was a good distance from camp she broke into a full out run. Lilypool staid besides the lake sometimes even swimming if she saw cats patrolling the area. Finally she reached the Thunderclan border. She hid in shallows of the lake. She hid there for what seemed like forever. She watched the Moon high patrol walk by and never even scented her. She knew Skystar would be there soon. Or so she hoped. He had said he would meet her the day after the gathering. But with everything that happened at the gathering she wasn't sure if he would come or not. Her heart had been broken when she found out he had mated with the medicine cat. He had new kits now. Kits with out a mother, who would take care of them? She felt bad for the kits for they would have a rough life. Every single cat in the woods would know by now that Skystar and Frostbite had broken Starclan's Law. But she couldn't say anything for she was breaking the law as well. She couldn't help it she loved Skystar so much. Even now when she felt betrayed. But she couldn't help it you can't just stop loving someone.

Skystar had been in his nest all day. He didn't even move. He had visited his kits who was being nursed by another queen. He knew he wouldn't lie to them like he did his first litter. When they were old enough to know he would tell them that their mother died. He looked outside and noticed the sun had set and the land was dark. He knew he told Lilypool he would meet her. He wouldn't go back on his word as much as he didn't want to move.
He padded out of his den and looked around. For all the events that had been happening in the clan it was quiet. Very shakily he walked towards the camp entrance that Nightowl was gaurding vigilently."I'm going for a walk Nightowl....I need it...just to think...when I get back...I'd like to see you in my den. Just to talk....of course." He dipped his head and padded out of camp.
THe walk to the lake was a long one. As he padded forward he felt like an eternity had gone by. He pushed his way through the reed beds and spotted the RiverClan she-cat. His blue eyes were glazed over and is pelt wasn't groomed. He was a mess."Lilypool...." He whisper cracked. He didn't even know what to do. He decided to lay down, resting his muzzle on his paws."I'm so lost...." he whispered.

Nightowl bowed his head in respect to his leader. "Skystar it's going to be all right. Give it time the clans will forget all about this. We'll make it through this." With that he watched the leader walk away. Shaking his head he sighed. He felt terrible for his leader.
Lilypool watched and waited finally she saw movement in the distance. She soon spotted Skystar, she purred softly and padded out of the lake and gave her pelt a shake. The water ran right off her fur. The fish diet did that to your fur it was nice. She than ran to Skystar as he laid down. She had never seen him in this shape. She laid down next to him and pressed her pelt next to him. "I...I'm sorry about Frostbite. How are your kits?" When he said he was lost her eyes softened and she licked his muzzle. "You'll find your way, I can help you..... if you want." She hoped she could help him through this. It was bad enough that his....... mate died giving birth to their two kits. But now Thunderclan was without a medicine cat. With out a medicine cat to train a new medicine cat things could go bad for Thunderclan. They had no one who knew the herbs that could heal them.

"They are being nursed by another queen....When they are ready to eat prey i plan on telling them who there mother is....well was. I hid that from Stormpaw,Snowpaw,Brookpaw and patchpaw and now they hate me....I don't want Jaykit and Whitekit to hate me too..." he whimpered. He felt his pelt brush against his and he felt comforted almost."Tigerflight...my deputy he was there.....watching....he told me that StarClan would never punish kits and they would live a good life...but he said it was Frostbites time to go....and he took her back to StarClan with him... I feel like it's my fault....I don't think I should have ever told her that I loved her....but it was hard Lilypool...because you were in RiverClan.....I couldn't walk into your camp as an apprentice and tell you that I loved you....so I got close to Frostbite...." he confessed.

Lilypool listened to him as he spoke of his kits. "Your kits will understand. You must give them time they have just been through a large shock. They just learned that who they thought was their mother wasn't their mother. Give them time, apoligize to them for keeping the truth from them. They'll understand with time." When she heard starclan was at the gathering she flattened her ears. They really must of been angry to actually show themselves. "Maybe she would have died any ways even if she didn't have kits. If it was her time to pass on their is nothing you could have done to save her. She's in Starclan now watching over you and her kits. All of them not just Jaykit and Whitekit but all of them. She's still here with you, you just can't see her. She'll always be watching over you and love you Skystar." He said he loved her, she smiled softly and her heart picked up. "I know I felt the same way I wanted to go to your camp and tell you how much I loved you. I have continued to watch you over time. It broke my heart to know you had moved on. But I was happy for you. I was glad you where happy and that's all that mattered to me. I'm sure Frostbite wants you and her kits to be happy as well."

Skystar listened to lilypool speak and blinked."Frostbite would have wanted to be a medicine cat...live a normal life and not die the way she did as well. She died in front of all the clans....all the clans know that ThunderClan will be weaker without a medicine cat. StarClan forbid that one clan may attack us while we are in a weak state...." Skystar mewed. He thought about the kits and apprentices in the clan. None of them had even remotely showed interest in wanting to be a medicine cat."No one wants to be a medicine cat in ThunderClan....its....its rough...." He looked at his paws. He was just broken to pieces. Skystar lost two deputies, and now the love he had grown to know, who was also the clans medicine cat."You don't hate me....do you Lilypool?"

Lilypool felt a stab in her heart, she could really hear the love in his voice for the deceased medicine cat. "No your right but you'll find a new medicine cat. And I'm sure the other medicine cats will help teach it. This isn't the first time a clan has been left with out a medicine cat for a while. I talked to our medicine cat I can tell you some of the herbs that heal encase anything happens. You should have a full stock in her den so that will help. So you just have to look at the herbs and pick those so the supply doesn't run out. And those who have been treated should be able to help you by telling you which herb helped heal them. There is some hope you just have to look for it." Lilypool purred when he asked her if she hated him. She had been hurt but she could never hate him. "No I could never hate you Skystar. I love you, I haven't stopped loving you since I was an apprentice."

Skystar tried to purr but it was broke in the back of his throat. He knew that lilypool meant well. However, her words about getting a new medicine cat stung."Medicine cats can be replaced.....but my mate cannot be. I can become a mate with someone else, but Frostbite will always have a place in my heart...." The gray tom looked at the sky. There was a new star shining brightly. He sniffed before standing up and shaking his fur."Whitekit looks just like her...and he will be a reminder of the the pain I caused her....she never got to know her own children....and what she doesn't know.....is that her children were wonderful...Brookpaw fiesty and strong...Patchpaw bitter tongued and witty, Stormpaw agile and quick....Snowpaw genuine and nice." Skystar shook his head."I wish she could have at least gotten to know them....."

Lilypool couldn't help but flinch a little but she did her best to hide it by turning and looking at the ground. "You are correct about that....." What could she say to him? She has tried to help but how could she. "I know you will never stop loving Frostbite, but she is watching over you and her kits right now. Now that she's in Starclan she will know everything about her kits. And she will continue to see how great they are as they grow up. I could never ask you to forget someone you love." Maybe she shouldn't of come, it was obvious he could never love her. Not while Frostbite held such a hold on him. Why did it hurt so much to know how much he loved the she cat? It felt like someone had ripped their claws through her chest.

Skystar sighed."I need to go back to my camp..... he padded towards the she-cat and rubbed his muzzle against hers. He managed to choke out a purr before pulling away."Thank you for listening to me,....." He whispered. His tail grazed her shoulder before he stepped back. He looked at her and knew he was getting himself into a world of trouble."Frostbite will always hold a place in my heart.....but she's in StarClan. She will be waiting for me when it is my time to go..... he paused and looked the she-cat in the eye."but so will you...I love you Lilypool..."

Lilypool smiled softly as he got up. She stood with him and shook her pelt to get the leaves and grass off her pelt. She purred softly as they rubbed muzzles. "I won't be able to come tomorrow I have am doing an all day training with my apprentice to get her ready for her assessment. Umm how about two nights from now?" Lilypool licked Skystar's ear. "Things will get better. Oh and one of our warriors saw Stormpaw run straight through our territory the night of the gathering. We haven't scented him yet. So I'm guessing he hasn't returned yet. Hopefully he'll come back home soon."

"I will meet you at the island in two nights...." He raised a brow when she spoke about his son."Kestrelstar is wise.....hopefully no warrior will question him. Thank you for telling me. Ill call off the patrols....hopoefully in good time he will return...like I said...I jsut want my kits to love me again.... the tom mewed. He stood up and padded to the reeds."Lilypool....you and my kits are the only thing keeping me alive..."
He shook his head and padded away towards camp. This she-cat was his everything. It wasn't long before he was back. He looked around camp for his deputy. Hopefully he had heard him come in and would meet him in his den like he requested. Skystar looked to the left, then to the right, before slowly padding into his den disapearing into the shadows.

Lilypool nodded, she was glad she had told him. She watched as he left once out of sight she dove into the lake and began swimming across it. It would be much quicker to swim across the lake than walking around it. Once she reached her territory. She did a little fishing until she caught two fish than padded back to camp. Spotting the guard she lowered her head. "Sorry couldn't sleep so I slipped out to do some fishing." we'll have some fresh fish for breakfast I'm sure the elders and queens will enjoy it. Now you better get to sleep." Lilypool nodded and padded into camp and dropped the fish before going into the warrior den and curled up in her nest and fell asleep.
Nightowl had climbed up to the top of the cliff to get a better view of the area so he had spotted Skystar heading back. As quickly as possible he climbed back down. "How was your walk Skystar? Did it help at all?"

Skystar scented his deputy and raised his head."Come in Nightowl." His whiskers twitched as he spotted his deputy. He listened to him speak and sighed. Did it really help him? His mind was still cloudy."I honestly don't know Nightowl. Skystar mewed. He sat up straight and looked at him. His sea green eyes starting to glow once more."Time will heal ThunderClan I think.....until then...we can only continue training uor apprentices to be warriors. That reminds me, how is Brookpaw's training coming along....Instead of a boarder patrol...I want you to work on training with her...and....talk to her....I think it would help...."

Nightowl felt bad for his leader. "You are right with time wounds will heal. And don't worry i was planning on taking her to the training area in the morning and teach her some fighting moves. It may be needed. The clans may take our time of weakness for granted. I want all our warriors and apprentices to be prepared. Was their any sign of Stormpaw?" He knew Skystar had been worried about his son. He had been missing since the gathering. Hopefully the apprentice would return soon.
