Rosepaw's paws touched the ground delicately, as if the ground might shatter under her feet at any moment. A large lizard scuttled in front of her, it's back to her. The ginger she-cat froze at it's twitchy movement. She didn't dare blink. The lizard seemed to relax and Rosepaw's claw slid out. Her muscles bunched and Rosepaw sprung catching the lizard. Rosepaw held the lizard proudly. She felt good, knowing that she can help feed her clan. Her tail swished on some dead leaves. She couldn't wait to tell Fernpaw what she had caught. This lizard could feed two cats. Rosepaw thought to herself. But her thought were interrupted.

Lichenthorn had been watching the young apprentice with clear eyes. She was an excellent hunter already and he could see her abilities were growing fast. The thought made him purr, something he rarely did. He padded out from the shadows dipping his head in greeting. “Good evening Rosepaw. Nice catch.” His eyes shone in the dark like glassy pools and he offered a small smile. The ginger she-cats fur stood out a bith in the dark and Lichenthorn wondered how he could help her blend in. Had she a mentor? Had his foolish brother already set one? His claws scraped the ground at the thought of him but he shook himself looking back at her. “Forgive me sometimes I get a bit sidetracked in my thoughts. However, your hunting is very good.” He purred, sitting down across from her.

"Thank you Lichenthorn." Rosepaw managed to meow quietly around a mouthful of lizard. Inside she was glowing and her eyes shone. Being praised by a warrior made Rosepaw excited. I can't wait to tell Fernpaw! She thought, but another thought crossed her mind. But she gets praised all the time... maybe I'll just keep this one thing to myself. A stab of guilt pierced her soul, she usually never kept secrets from her sister. Rosepaw ignored it and tried to smile at the warrior, but because of the lizard it looked a lot more like a odd sort of grimace.

Lichenthorn gave a small purr. “There is no need for thanks. I merely making a statement.” His voice regained it’s icy exterior, but he kept his eyes soft. Almost…. playful. He gave a stretch then looked around at the darkness that fell across all of ShadowClan’s territory. Their clan had its name for a reason. Looking back to Rosepaw he offered a small smile. “Perhaps you would like to join me on a patrol?” he meowed. “We can hunt on our way back if you’d like, though with or without you I’ll be going. I need to stay out of camp til my emotions calm down.” He cringed at the last part. Why was he bothering to tell another cat this, let alone an apprentice? Lichenthorn chuckled inwardly. Must not let your tongue slip dear, friends are useless.

Rosepaw was unsure. She dropped the lizard at her paws.
"I don't know..." She stumbled over her words. There was something about Lichenthorn that made her uneasy, but being young and naive she ignored the feeling. The ginger she-cat dropped her bright green gaze to her paws. Rosepaw took a deep breath, inhaling the comforting scent of ShadowClan.
"I suppose I could go on a patrol with you." She meowed. She grabbed her lizard and hid it in a nearby hollow stump.
(I think Maplestar wants you to mentor Robinpaw)
