"Lightpaw!"Shinestream called to her apprentice, Lightpaw. Being a Medicine Cat, she had many duties, but the most amazing was teaching her apprentice all of the healing and helping. She wondered what to teach him, first. Herbs and Signs, also Injuries. "Lightpaw!"the long-legged beautiful she-cat called to her apprentice again, twitching her tail.

A groan escaped his muzzle as he heard his mentors silky voice call out his name. He was having such a nice rest within the medicine cats den, all curled up in his warm nest. If he could only sleep for another moon or so, that would be perfect. Lightpaw giggled a bit at the thought before rolling over onto his left side and stretching out his hind legs and forelegs.
A huge yawn burst from his jaws and he felt his eyes well up with moisture at the strength of the yawn. Jaws closing with a light clink, the small orange tabby apprentice forced himself onto his paws, shaking the loss bits of moss from his pelt. He stood in his nest for a bit, waiting for the grogginess to wear off before he had to face his mentor and the task she had planned for him today.
Don't get him wrong, he loved what he had to do. Granted he spent most of his kit hood within the medicine cats den healing from when his mother attacked him. It made him interested in being a medicine cat and helping cats like him who were injured, recover fully. Lightpaw's didn't heal completely, he was left with a slight limp, that made him move a little slower than most in his Clan, but he didn't let it get him down.
No, he was stronger than that, and he had the will to better himself, and that was what drove him to do something good for the Clan he had dedicated himself to healing. Stretching out his forelegs one more time, he made his way out of the den and to the source of that call. Dipping his head at his pretty mentor, Lightpaw looked around with his bright eyes.
"Good morning! What are we doing today?"
[/color] Lightpaw was a rather excitable apprentice, very eager to learn, but quick to get frustrated if something didn't go his way, or he failed to remember a herb. With his whiskers twitching ever so slightly, he waited as patiently as he could for his mentor to speak. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Shinestream smiled at her apprentice. "Well, I want to know what you want to do, learn herbs, signs, what to do for injuries."she asked, not knowing what her apprentice would want. All were great, but she didn't want to jump ahead, or it would just become confusing for the both of them. Shinestream blinked her deep blue eyes, and calmly began to flick her tail.

With his intelligent gaze locked on her pretty golden face, Lightpaw delved into his thoughts. What did he want to learn? Better question, what did he already know? Well, being only nine moons, there wasn't much he did know.
The basics had been covered by his previous mentor, Howlingwind, but the training had not extended out farther than that. He knew the uses for cobwebs, and poppy seeds; he could recognize tansy, and marigold, and he knew the affects that death berries had on cats of any size. All the other herbs, like borage, and comfry? They were alien to him.
Drawing out of his thoughts, Lightpaw sighed. He wanted to learn everything there was to know right now. The young tom would be working with herbs for the rest of his life, experimenting with different combinations for the best results, and what not. In his short three moons with his late mentor, he had learned nothing of signs. Signs of what? Signs of sickness? From StarClan?
The brunt of what he needed to learn in his short time spent as an apprentice struck him like a lead pipe, paralysing him with fear that he might fail in his duties. Small face contorting into a look of worry, Lightpaw dropped his eyes from his mentors face so that she could not see.
"What kind of signs? Signs from StarClan?"
[/color] Voice shaky, Lightpaw's tail lashed out back and forth behind his little, orange and white tabby body. Taking a deep breath, he let his eyes travel back up to his mentors deep blue gaze. "I know about cobwebs and poppy seeds. I haven't really learned much."[/color] Lightpaw spoke with a soft voice, and a shrug of his shoulders. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
